PRESS RELEASE

Monaco, September 30th 2024

Since 2015 the Passion Sea Association, is raising awareness about the importance of preserving our Oceans and marine life through art and education. In alignment with the National Biodiversity Strategy (NBS) for 2030, which Monaco aims to achieve under the Convention on Biological Diversity, this monegasque association strives to make a positive impact by announcing the inaugural edition of Flowers4art®, organised under the High Presidency of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and in presence of the famous botanist and inventor of Vertical Garden (mur végétal)

Flowers4art® showcase will explore the concept of green walls in major cities around the world and the potential benefits they could bring to both our own environment and health in the Principality of Monaco. Several landscapers or garden designers will be invited to show their living green walls, also known as vertical gardens, or green columns, with their design of a plant and flower artwork inspired by the movements and vibrant colors found in the works of renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh.

Helga Piaget, President of Passion Sea Association, said:"Clean rivers, seas and oceans start with changing whatever we do on land. Creating a healthier environment in our Cities improves the air quality. On our Planet everything is connected. Implementing green walls, into urban and interior architectures, is not just decoration, as they offer a range of advantages. These walls help lower outdoor temperatures and combat the heat island effect in cities. Flowers4art® showcase would like to suggest the best practices to introduce, them into urban areas, giving importance of minimal water usage and effective irrigation techniques. For cities like Monaco it is important to have projects allowing vegetation to embellish the city in using the less floor space possible.”

Only the projects, received within October 20th, and selected by the Passion Sea Jury will be on display at the prestigious Hôtel Métropole Monte Carlo, in the Theatre Salon, for 4 days from November 28th to December 1st, 2024.

The event will also include, professional meeting, workshops and conferences, as well as, an exposition of different artworks painted by children from around the world in respect towards our Planet, realized on Passion Sea Association's supervision; and a charity art auction (led by Wannenes Monaco) to support the work of the association.
